Privacy Policy
Prayer Mate is a mobile application developed and published by MessyByte Hub, an individual developer operating from India. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected when you use the Prayer Mate app.
Information We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and a user ID from Firebase Authentication (including when you sign in with Google)
- Prayer and practice data: prayers you mark as prayed, missed, or qaza, your qaza backlog, prayer streaks, goals and goal history, and dua memorization progress. Because this data relates to your religious practice, we treat it as sensitive.
- Location: your device's precise location, if you allow location access (see below)
- Notification and device information: a push notification token, a device identifier, device platform, operating system version, and your time zone
- Notification history: a record of which reminders and summaries we sent you, so you don't receive the same one twice
- Usage information: how you interact with the app (for example, which screens and features you use), collected through Firebase Analytics
Guest Mode
You can use Prayer Mate without an account. In guest mode, your prayer history, streak, Qaza records and settings are stored only on your device and are not sent to our servers. If you later create an account, this data is uploaded to your new account. Leaving guest mode or uninstalling the app erases it. Guests do not receive prayer reminder notifications. Usage information (Firebase Analytics) is still collected in guest mode.

- To store, sync, and display your prayer and spiritual tracking data
- To calculate prayer times and send prayer reminders and summaries at the right local time
- To show the Qibla direction
- To understand how the app is used and improve its reliability and features
Location Information
Location access is optional. If you allow it, Prayer Mate uses your location to show the Qibla direction and to calculate prayer times for prayer reminders.
Prayer times shown in the app and the Qibla direction are calculated on your device. If you have an account and notifications are on, your latitude and longitude are sent to our server and stored with your notification settings so reminders can be sent at the correct prayer times. Reminder times are calculated on our server; your location is not sent to any other service. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working, but location-based prayer times may be less accurate.
Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored in a database hosted by Render (Singapore region). Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication and push notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, both operated by Google. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.

- Firebase Analytics (usage analytics)
- Render (server and database hosting)
- Google Play Services
- Expo services
Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. The services above process data only on our behalf, to run the app. We may disclose information if required by law.
Data Retention and Account Deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Notification history is deleted automatically after 60 days. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account), or by emailing us. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile and your prayer, Qaza, goal, memorization, and notification data from our database, and removes your sign-in from Firebase Authentication. Copies may remain in encrypted database backups for up to 7 days before they are overwritten.

Your Choices
- You can turn prayer reminder notifications and after-prayer dua suggestions on or off in the app (Profile).
- You can deny or revoke location and notification permissions in your device settings.
- Signing out stops notifications to that device.
- You can update your display name in the app.
- You can request a copy of your data, or its deletion, by emailing us.
Children’s Privacy
Prayer Mate is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
